- Apply to become a Brand Partner and work your way through the application process without purchasing anything, which is called “solo-building.”
Is a direct sales company the same as an MLM company?
The difference between a direct sales company and an MLM company are the number of people selling. With a direct sales company, one person is selling to many customers. With an MLM company, more than one person needs to sell in order for others to earn commission and make money.
Is Jeunesse Global a pyramid scheme?
What you need to know about Jeunesse Global is that it isn’t a pyramid scheme. One of the main differences between a direct sales or MLM company and a “pyramid scheme” or scam, as defined by the FTC, is that with an MLM company distributors are able to sell products without having first bought them themselves.
How do you identify a pyramid scheme?
The Federal Trade Commission has a pyramid scheme checklist. If the company you’re considering looks like it fits these criteria, don’t join:
- You pay to get your distributorship (or have to buy products).
- You are required to recruit others in order for you or them to earn any money – and there’s no limit on how many levels of recruitment.
- You are not able to make money from your products alone – you must recruit others in order to profit.
- The company is making income off of the sale of organizing meetings and training rather than sales on products, or that most distributors don’t earn any commissions at all.
- The company charges you a large fee for basic items like information about how to sell the products, or training on how to recruit others.
- You’re required to attend meetings where you listen to someone talk about what it takes to be successful in this business – but there’s no actual selling involved (you’re only required to “buy” products and recruit people into the business).
What is the advantage of a direct sales or MLM company?
The advantage to a direct sales or MLM company is they allow you to build your own business, make your own schedule with flexibility depending on how much time you have available, earn commissions by selling directly to customers without needing any retail experience, be able to offer people one-on-one support, opportunity for residual income while building a team.
What is the the disadvantage of a direct sales or MLM company?
One disadvantage to starting with this type of business is you have to invest in inventory upfront that may not sell quickly and it can be difficult to get started without any retail experience. If your goal is to earn a full-time income, it may be difficult to do that with just one or two customers.
State and federal complaints against Jeunesse Global
The FTC has received complaints alleging, among other things, that Jeunesse Global is operating a pyramid scheme or multi-level marketing system and making false advertising claims about income potential for distributors.
These types of lawsuits are pending in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California as well as state courts in California, Florida and Illinois.
The court has not ruled on the merits of these allegations, but it has dismissed many of them in two separate rulings because they were filed too late to state a claim for relief under federal law or had been previously addressed by other courts as a matter of procedural default. To date, none have prevailed against Jeunesse Global.

Jeunesse Global, Inc., was founded in 2009 by Randy Ray and his wife, Wendy Lewis, as a direct selling platform focused on encouraging healthy living and youth enhancement.
The product line has expanded over the years, but Jeunesse’s main focus is still on cosmetics, supplements and skin care for men, woman and children. What products does Jeunesse Global offer?
The company has a catalog from which it offers nutrition and skin care products with “cutting-edge” ingredients, including stem cells and protein complexes. The products are available in more than 80 countries through their network of independent distributors who sell to friends, family members, neighbors or strangers on the street under Jeunesse’s compensation plan for retail sales.
Jeunesse products include anti-aging skin care products, weight management products and “Nutrition System,” which is a meal replacement shake.
Are Jeunesse products any good?
There are mixed reviews of the Jeunesse products, but many people say they’ve had success with them. The anti-aging skin care products can be drying for some customers, while others claim results will take time to see and that have not noticed any difference in their skin after using the product long term. Reviews on weight management products say they suppress appetite and promote weight loss.
The company’s drinks and shakes have been criticized for containing high levels of sugar.
Jeunesse Global has been accused by a number of people on social media sites such as Facebook, Reddit and Twitter that its products are just repackaged versions of the popular Japanese supplement “Miracle Bust,” which caused health problems in Japan back in 2008 when it was discovered its active ingredients, including plant-based estrogenic compounds known as phytoestrogens, were causing women to develop large breasts and suffer from hormonal changes.
