Approaching them

It is important that you figure out what phase they are in, as it will help determine how you will approach the issue. Although you will have to tailor your approach to the circumstances, there are some things that are important to know if you know someone who is currently in an MLM. You can start off by trying to gently question them and react accordingly.

They might be closely supervised so it might be difficult to find an opportunity to talk to them about it. At this point in time, they will have invested a lot of time and money into this scheme and will not be making much return on their investment. Since they are probably being pressured to work harder, they could be blaming themselves for their perceived failure. Keep in mind that this will make them feel extremely vulnerable.

They will be very tired, stressed, and financially strained. Showing concern and giving them your complete support is the best thing you can offer. Be there for them as much as you can and show them that you care.

Expressing doubt

The person may start to express doubts about what they are doing. Do not just jump on this and tell them you are glad they figured it out, as it can be seen as a threat. Their defenses are going to be up around you, and they will feel less trusting of you. Instead, continue to be supportive and gently question if needed.

Maybe ask them why they are feeling suspicious, and help them explore their feelings in order to allow them to navigate the issue. Try not to tell them what to do or think if they ask for your opinion to say that you are not sure and try to look for answers together.

Reconnecting

If you want to bring them back to their old self, try to speak to them about an interest you share, invite them to hang out, and talk about memories. It is good to take their mind off their job for a little while, especially if it’s stressful to them. Show them that you are still their friend and you still value your connection with them.

Give perspective

 perspective

When someone is deep into something, it can be very hard to see from other perspectives. Some may even lose the ability to think critically so if you can somehow show them their situation from a different perspective, they might be able to start making connections about their situation.

This may allow them to recover and figure out a way to get out of there situation. in order to do this, try to speak in A non-judgemental tone while asking questions that might make them explore their actions and how it is impacting them and others.
